In today’s time, air pollution has become a dangerous problem. The increasing traffic in cities every day, the smoke and dirt from factories mixing with water, burning things in the fields, smoke rising from the garbage heaps and the dirt accumulated in the drains around the house have polluted the air so much that getting clean air has now become a dream. Many of the most polluted countries in the world are also facing similar problems.
Earlier people used to worry about clean water, but now they have to struggle even for clean air. Air pollution is not only increasing the problem of breathing, but it is also affecting the heart, lungs, brain and eyes.
AQI i.e. Air Quality Index is used to measure the condition of air pollution. The higher the AQI, the more polluted the air is. AQI ranges from 0 to 500. Air from 0 to 50 is considered very good and air above 400 is so toxic that it can have an immediate effect on health, especially on children, the elderly and sick people.
According the reports of 2025, the 10 most polluted countries of the world where the air has been found to be the worst are mostly in the region of Asia and Africa. And here still environmental protection is not being given as much attention as is necessary.
Additionally, these most polluted countries have air filled with tiny particles called PM2.5. These dangerous particles directly enter our lungs and settle there, causing serious harm. And become the cause of death. Now let’s know about those countries which are facing the most air pollution in 2025.
10 Most Polluted Countries in the World in 2025
1. Bangladesh (One of from Most Polluted Countries)
This country has been at the top of the list of the most polluted countries in the world for many years in a row. In fact, the situation in its capital Dhaka is so bad that people cannot go out without a mask.

A blanket of dust and smoke is spread everywhere. Moreover, the abundance of brick kilns, old vehicles, open burning of garbage, and haphazard construction work are the main causes of pollution.
Most of the people are troubled by respiratory diseases, and cases of asthma among children are constantly increasing. The government has made some rules, but their implementation is weak. The amount of pollution is constantly increasing.
2. Pakistan
Pakistan, where the air quality has become so bad, especially in big cities like Lahore, that a poisonous mixture of fog and smog covers every winter.

As a result, people here often complain of burning eyes, sore throat, and difficulty in breathing. Burning of stubble in the fields, traffic pressure, and pollution causing factories are constantly poisoning the air here.
Every year millions of people reach hospitals due to pollution-related diseases and there is no concrete treatment in the hospitals here and only announcements are made in the name of permanent solution.
3. India
India is at third place in the list of most polluted countries. The problem of air pollution in India is becoming very serious, especially in Delhi and NCR region. Every year after Diwali, Delhi’s air becomes so toxic that the AQI crosses 500.

Furthermore, traffic jams, smoke from firecrackers, industrial areas and garbage dumps, dirt in drains around homes all add to this pollution and and the filth from rivers and drains.. According to a WHO report, every year millions of people die in India from air pollution related diseases.
Children and the elderly are affected the most. The Indian government has started air purification schemes. But no benefit of these schemes is visible.
4. China
China is at number four, which was at the top position 1 in the list of the world’s most polluted countries till a few years ago. But in the last few years, China has improved the situation a bit through strict laws and schemes. And has controlled it a lot. And moving from number one to number four is a good thing.
Pollution spread in cities like Beijing, Shanghai is still a big problem, but China has taken positive steps by promoting solar energy and electric vehicles. Still, heavy industry and dependence on coal are still increasing pollution in many cities. China will have to pay more attention to the pollution system.
5. Nigeria
Nigeria is Africa’s most populous country. Here in cities like Lagos, smoke from factories, smoke from vehicles and burning of plastic in the open are the main causes of air pollution. There is so much traffic on the roads here that there is a jam for hours, due to which the smoke spreads more in the air. Which is the biggest cause of pollution.
Due to lack of electricity here, people run generators, which increases pollution further. In Nigeria, people mostly depend on private vehicles and the condition of public transport is very poor. Due to which the pollution situation of Nigeria is getting worse.
6. Indonesia
Now let’s talk about Indonesia. It is at sixth place in the list of most polluted countries. The air of the entire country becomes poisonous due to the fire in the forests every year. Burning forests for agriculture has become a common practice here. Incidents of deforestation and fire are increasing especially in Sumatra and Kalimantan islands.
The poisonous gases mixed in the air of Jakarta city are making people sick, especially lung diseases are increasing rapidly among children. And at the same time, diseases are spreading among the elders due to poisonous gas. And the pollution is also increasing in the cities.
7. Iran
In Iran, its big cities like Tehran, the air quality has become very bad due to traffic and industry. Here oil refineries and thermal power stations spread pollution in large quantities. Low fuel quality, old vehicles and population density together are continuously increasing air pollution.
The Iranian government has had to close schools and offices many times just because of pollution. And if this continues here, the day is not far when pure air will be needed to breathe and if not available, many people will die. However, the Iranian government is trying its best on this.
8. Mongolia
Mongolia comes at number 8. Especially its capital Ulaanbaatar. The geographical location, cold weather and coal-based heating system here increase pollution. In winter, when people use coal to keep the house warm, the toxic particles in the air increase.
And the air of Ulaanbaatar has also become so polluted that children here are sent to school wearing masks. Leave aside the children, everyone here has to wear masks. If this continues like this, then pollution will spread in a very large amount here.
The government should pay attention to these things and Government rules should be more implemented to stop pollution.
9. Egypt
Egypt, number 9 in the most polluted countries list, is a country where the level of pollution in cities like Cairo has become increasingly dangerous. Moreover, industry, traffic, and the tendency to burn garbage in the open contribute heavily to air pollution. Additionally, being a desert area, the high amount of dust in the air makes the situation even worse.
Due to which every person has trouble breathing. And you know this thing very well. Because when we travel without a mask, it is very difficult to breathe. We start suffocating. Mistry should also stop burning garbage in the open here.
10. Nepal
Now let’s talk about the country of Nepal, which comes at number 10 in the list of pollution. Despite being a small country, it is in the grip of pollution. Pollution in the air of the capital Kathmandu is constantly increasing.
The valleys here do not stop the pollution, but get trapped in it. Which is a major cause of pollution. Old vehicles, diesel buses, and construction work here are spoiling the air of Kathmandu to a great extent. Due to which the amount of pollution is increasing in the country of Nepal as well.
And these are the small reasons that increase the amount of pollution in the country. However, the Nepal government is paying strict attention to these things.
These solutions and measures are very important to avoid pollution – most polluted countries
1. Strict monitoring of factories: Therefore, the government should pay strict attention to the poisonous smoke and dirty water coming out of factories and put a stop to it. Factories that do not follow the rules should be heavily fined, and strict action must be taken against them.
2. Use of vehicles: Electric vehicles should be promoted instead of diesel and petrol vehicles. Even if diesel and petrol are used for long distance travel, at least electric vehicles should be used for short distance travel. And every country should adopt this.
3. Use of clean energy: Solar and wind energy should be used instead of coal and oil-based electricity. Solar panels should be installed as much as possible in both villages and cities.
4. Use of public transport: There is no need to go out with a vehicle all the time. Public transport like metro, bus, auto should be adopted. It is cheaper and also pollutes the air less. And the number of accidents will also reduce.
6. Stay away from plastic: Use plastic as little as possible. If you go to the market, take a cloth bag with you. Avoid single-use items. Plastic not only causes great harm to the environment but also to animals.
8. Stay away from things that emit smoke: Avoid habits like burning garbage, bursting crackers. The smoke emitting things should be buried so that they mix with the soil and do not cause any harm.
👉🏼 Increasing population is one of the main cause of pollution so we should take care of these things.
5. Dirt around the house: To avoid pollution, first of all the dirt around the house should be kept clean. Otherwise, this dirt becomes the main cause of disease.
7. Making the public aware: People need to be told that pollution is not just the government’s responsibility, it is also the responsibility of all of us. Awareness should be spread through schools, neighborhoods, panchayats and social media.
9. Increase the use of cycling: Use cycle to go to nearby places. This will keep your health good and will also prevent pollution.
10. The most important work – Planting trees: Every person should plant at least one tree every year. The more greenery there is, the cleaner the air will be.
Most Polluted Countries – Warning and awareness
Looking at the list of the most polluted countries in the world in 2025, it is clear that air pollution is no longer a problem of just one country or region, but it has become a global crisis. If both governments and common people do not understand together, then this pollution can become such an epidemic that will affect everyone’s life.
Through this article, it is hoped that all of us become a little more aware about the environment and pledge to give clean and pure air to the coming generations.
Pay attention – it is not just about air, it is about our life and increase your country number from most polluted countries list
