Today India’s aviation sector is growing rapidly, but at the same time many serious problems are also emerging, such as negligence in aircraft maintenance, ignoring qualified engineers, and lack of Indian government participation.
Recent events have proved that now the time has come when both the airline management and the government should take serious steps. Keeping in mind the safety of passengers, technical quality and employment of youth, it is necessary that the maintenance system be strengthened and the government should re-establish its role.
For this purpose, we are presenting these two big requests, one to the airline management and the other to the Government of India.
First Request: To The Airlines Management
We request all the airlines management with folded hands to please give the highest priority to aircraft maintenance. Nowadays, many accidents are happening only because maintenance is not taken seriously. The safety of an aircraft depends on its every small and big part (spare parts) and its timely inspection.
All the necessary parts should be made available to the engineering department on time. It is not at all right to ask the engineer to start work until a part is available. It has been seen many times that the engineer is asked to make do with “jugaad” or is made to work with incomplete parts. This is playing with the lives of passengers and should be stopped immediately.
Because if there is any problem in the ship, the burden falls on the maintenance department only or it is held responsible. Therefore, all the engineers and maintenance department should take care of everything. If things are not available, do not do any incomplete work or Jugaad. Or let the ship remain grounded. But do not play with anyone’s life for a few bucks or under pressure.
Apart from this, a big mistake that airlines are making today is that experienced engineers and technicians staff are not being given proper salary. In their place, freshers are recruited for less money. This results in the absence of experienced people for maintenance. And those who have 2-3 years of experience, have studied AME (Aircraft Maintenance Engineering), are sitting at home and facing unemployment.
I myself am one such person – did AME course, have experience too, but am not getting a job. And there are many people like me who are sitting at home even though they are qualified and trained for this field. This is a serious concern not only for me but for the entire aviation industry and the country.
Another important thing is that airlines should ensure that only those candidates are hired in the technical department who have done Aviation Engineering or AME course. People from other fields who do not have any deep knowledge of this subject should be kept away from such responsibilities. When a person has studied this field, then only he can ensure safety in a better way. Not from any other field.
So all airlines should check once thoroughly which employee is from aviation engineering background and who is not. And if someone has been recruited through wrong means or on the basis of identity, then immediate action should be taken against him.
In the recruitment process, HR should not only look at the degree, but also the experience written on the resume and then proceed to the next process. In the next step, experienced engineers should be interviewed. In the interview, real technical questions should be asked instead of limiting themselves to only “formal talks”. Real experience and ability should be looked at.
After all, this is not just a question of the job. This is a question of the lives of passengers and the reputation of the aviation system of the country. Because when an incident or accident occurs, passengers and other citizens get a lifelong fear, which affects all the airlines. And the country as well. And this is not a small field or a small matter, but this is aviation which becomes a very big matter.
Second Request: To The Indian Government
An important request to the honorable Indian government is that please keep at least 2 or 3 airlines in the country under government ownership. If the airlines are government owned, not only will the passengers get better facilities and safety, but more discipline and responsibility will also be seen in the maintenance department of the airlines.
Also, by having a government airline, thousands of AMEs, technical staff and aviation students of the country will get permanent jobs and a secure future. This is very important in today’s time, because there is neither stability nor salary package in private airlines, due to which the employees are not able to stay in one place because in such big cities, 15-20 thousand is nothing. And this affects the work.
If government airlines start again, then the advantage will be that the entire burden will not fall on private airlines. There will not be much competition due to this, but the maintenance and passenger facilities will be better than before. People will prefer to travel in the airline whose service is good. Due to this all airlines will try to improve their management and service.
It is very sad that despite being such a big and developed country, India does not have a single government airline left today. Earlier we had Air India, but now that too has gone into private hands.
This is a matter of concern for both the country’s honor and security. When other countries like America, China, France, Germany etc. can run their own government airlines, then why can’t India? Does India not have the resources? Are the citizens of India not capable of this? Or does the government not feel the need for it?
To be honest, this situation is a matter of shame for us. The government should think seriously about this. Aviation is a sector where not only profit but also national prestige and public safety is involved. Therefore, government participation in it is necessary.
If the government participates in the aviation sector again, then it will increase India’s global reputation and millions of youth of the country will get permanent and secure employment opportunities. And the country’s aviation services will become more safe and reliable. This step will be a matter of great pride and a big contribution for India.
Both our requests are for the same purpose, to make the country’s aviation sector safe, capable and self-reliant. This is not just our need, it is the safety of every passenger and the right of every citizen.
Now Big Question ? – Will something happen or like every time…
Now the question arises – Will this request of ours, yours and everyone bring any change this time? Or will it be ignored as usual? It is possible that the airlines and the government will give compensation and keep quiet, and then after a few days forget everything, as it often happens. A new news will come and people’s attention will be diverted towards it.
That is why I have written this blog not just for the sake of writing, but with a responsibility so that everyone reads it, understands it, and thinks about it. This thing should reach everyone, share it as much as possible. Share it with family, people and co-workers. Think about it. And especially it should reach the airlines management and the government.
Because when a member of a family dies, not just one life is lost but the happiness of the entire family is shattered. And in this accident, more than 250 people have lost their lives. Just imagine how many homes would have been destroyed, how many people would have cried, and how many lives would have changed in a moment. If we don’t wake up today, then tomorrow we may face a similar tragic incident.
