Road and traffic conditions
Heavy rain has disrupted Mumbai’s traffic system. Moreover, water flooded areas like Lower Parel, Dadar, Sion, and Kurla, and long traffic jams slowed the city. Consequently, office goers spent hours stuck on the roads.
The rain also stranded many vehicles in the water. Therefore, people are facing serious inconvenience while trying to commute.

BMC and state government teams are constantly monitoring the situation. They have kept the NDRF team on alert. In areas with heavy waterlogging, workers are removing water with pumping machines.
Officials have appealed to people not to step out of their houses unless it is necessary. Moreover, they have urged residents to stay alert and follow safety instructions to avoid any risk.
Why is there so much trouble in Mumbai?
It rains every year in Mumbai, but why does the problem become so big?
1. The city has a very high population.
2. The drains and drainage are not cleaned on time.
3. Illegal construction and cement roads reduce the space for water to drain out.
4. Due to being near the sea, the water cannot drain out quickly.
In Mumbai Rains – Weather Department’s warning
The weather department issued a red alert, and moreover warned that heavy rains may hit Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Palghar in the next 24–48 hours, therefore people should avoid seashores and low-lying areas.
