We believe Sharmistha Panoli has not committed any major crime and hence she should not have been arrested. She was simply sharing her views on a social issue. She did not insult any religion or caste. In India, our constitution gives every citizen the right to freedom of expression. Sharmistha exercised this right by sharing her views. For an Indian citizen this is their right.
If she has to be arrested just for what she said, then ask us – what about the Many politicians, small/big parties and team groups and even actors have made harsh or incorrect statements in the past. Was he arrested? No? No. Then why is Sharmistha being made a target?
Every day many people say bad things about religion and even God on social media. They lie, spread rumours and hatred. Yet, nothing happens to them. They were not punished, then why was Sharmishtha arrested?
And if we talk about the most false or hurtful things, then the news channels should be arrested first. Because they distort the facts and spread fear, confusion and half-baked news for TRP. And many more. Then why are they not arrested? Why only Sharmistha Panoli?
If the law is equal for everyone, then everyone should be treated equally. But why only Sharmishtha Panoli? Either jail everyone or shut down social media, neither the bamboo will remain nor the flute will play. And let the pace of Kalyug increase.
And when Sharmishtha saw that her video was creating controversy, she removed it and also apologized. This shows that she is not arrogant. Nor did she say this to hurt anyone. And she is ready for her mistakes. This shows that she is a responsible person.
And as far as the actresses and actors are concerned about Operation Sindoor, they are just film producers who want to increase their fan following and earn as much money as possible, they are not the real heroes.
The real heroes are those who protect the country or speak for the country i.e. the army, those who work hard in the fields and bring food to the country i.e. farmers and those who support or protect people in times of crisis – these are the real heroes.
So we believe that it is unfair to arrest her. The law should work with justice. A person who speaks and later apologizes should not be treated like a criminal. His intention was not to console anyone.
In a free and democratic country, everyone has the right to speak and express their views. This right must be protected. We urge the authorities to respect due process, review all legal claims, and release Sharmistha Panoli. – Margret Villain
